Like Father Like Son

We were having a hard time finding a coat for Jake to take on his mission. We just happened to have this old coat and scarf hanging in the closet.
What do you think?

Then we found this old picture kicking around.

I think Jake needs a bike.

Uruguay Montevideo West Mission

Arrives in Uruguay May 24, 2011. Should have got this posted earlier. Good looking group of missionaries. Jake fourth from the left.

Uruguay Great Time

Need to catch up with some information about Jake and update how the mission is going. He loves Uruguay, he is serving in his first area Rivera, right on the Brazil boarder. He meets people who are from Brazil and speak Portuguese. He says that is fun when he is still trying to speak Spanish.

Atlanta Georgia Temple

Tomorrow the Atlanta Temple is scheduled to be rededicated. This post does not have much to do with Jake other than in 1994 we were living in McDonough, Georgia. Grandma Olsen came for a visit in July and we visited the Atlanta Temple with her. Lyle (5) and Jake (2 1/2) had a fun day rolling down the hill and playing on the lawn.

On June 1, 1983, President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated the Atlanta Georgia Temple in Sandy Springs. It was the first temple in the Southeastern United States, and the first of 97 temples dedicated by President Hinckley.

Tomorrow it will be rededicated by President Thomas S. Monson. We had a chance to tour the open house with Kayla and Kristi last week, it is beautiful and they loved the visit.

The Day it All Began

You have come a long way. From that very first day December 8th 1991, you have been a special boy. Your mom and dad could not be happier. You always thought it was cool that you were the only one in the family not born in Utah. You were born in Southhaven, Mississippi. It was a special day.
Now in Buenos Aires, Argentina, preparing to serve your mission in Montevideo, Uruguay. We hear of all the positive things going on as you learn Spanish and learn to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jake is doing great in the CCM (Aregentina MTC) Check it out from this link.

"i know this church is true. i love teaching people and bringing them knowledge about how they can attain eternal happiness. i know that i,m only an instrument in the hands of god and that he,s making all of this possible. i love the scriptures. i can,t wait to get into uruguay..."

In the Paper,

Sister Kadis in the ward was able to get Jake’s missionary announcement published in the local paper. We’re very thankful for her and all the effort she went through to get this published.

She also said how cool it is “that this area has been willing to publish articles and events about the church, especially about your mission call which I believe is the first time to print such an announcement.”

Young adult called to full-time missionary service

Opening the Call...

That is me on the phone with Lyle, waiting to hear where our little boy would go.  Jake had come out to Tennessee for Thanksgiving and his call had arrived at the Brazelton's that Wednesday. He had to wait until he got back Sunday to open it. He was anxious to know where he'd be going but said it was worth it to have all his friends there.
He's very excited to leave for the Uruguay Montevideo West mission. Jake will enter the Argentina MTC on March 24th.
